Save the Word! - Day 2

Thank you for all the layouts you sent me for the gallery! (I knew a Ninja would do the trick…;o)). I will be posting them as soon as possible and make sure you get your freebie-payment.

Today’s Save the Word theme is Writing. Of course I encourage you to use lots of text in your scrapping - you might think pictures are enough right now, but trust me, in 10 or 20 years you can no longer remember the details. But also, I recommend writing outside the digital scrapping world. I am not talking about the next Great American Novel or iconic articles. Something a little less ambitious is just as good. How about changing your next email or text message into an actual hand written letter? Yes, the old-fashioned kind with paper, envelope and a stamp. Your friends and family will treasure it, I promise. Some highly educated people in the psychology field say that writing (but not sending) letters to others or even yourself is a great form of therapy. But let’s not make it a bigger deal than it is - just keep in mind, that any kind of writing is a good thing. You decide the level of ambition…

And after this “lecture”, let us get on to what you are actually here for: The freebies!

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

Alpha of the Day is made from an old font sheet, and you get it in both white and black.

And the Writing Paper Pack gives you another 12 papers, this time related to the act of writing.

Tomorrow I plan to give you some Nick-Nacks related to reading and writing. See you then?

Save the Word! - Day 1

Before I start on today’s theme, I want to turn to the appeal I made on Monday. The “Your Gallery” is still quite empty - only Hélène from Belgium had the courage to send me a layout, and I can promise you it didn’t hurt a bit. So hurry up and find one of your layouts (it does not have to be made with my products), email it to me and let us fill up the empty walls in “Your Gallery”. Please - you get a freebie...! As you can see above, I have consulted one of my Ninja-friends, and I can not guarantee for your safety, if you do not do as he says…!

But now on to something different.

I have a passion - or an obsession, you be the judge. I think people all around the world are beginning to neglect the written form of communication. Pictures are beginning to take over where we used to use words. And yes, I see the irony… Scrapping is more about pictures than words, but maybe we could all change that a little bit and start using more words in our layouts? As a writer I am personally doing my best and want to encourage you to do the same.

The next four days I will do my part by introducing the “Save the Word!” campaign and offer you freebies related to reading, writing and using words. I thereby hope to inspire you all to use a little more text in your scrapping. And try if you can get your children to join in. Our most important job is to make sure they read and write well - and love doing it. Cause…

Today’s theme is reading and first up is a Reading Paper Pack with 12 reading related papers:

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

And then you get a Bookshelf Alpha for making lots of words:

Tomorrow I turn to writing. Hope to see you then.

Show Yourself

I couldn’t stay away so I skipped my lunch break to write this.

I know you are here for freebies, but today is a little different. I also know that I promised you that EVERYTHING on these pages is free, and it still is in the sense that no money is involved. However, you must do something in return:

As mentioned the other day, I have a made a “My Gallery” with some of my own layouts, and now there is also a “Your Gallery” for some of your layouts. But it’s empty…

Therefore, I am now offering a freebie for everyone who wants to exhibit their creations in “Your Gallery” on this blog. The freebie will not be available for anyone else.

This is what YOU do:

YOU choose 1 or 2 of your layouts (it would be nice if they are made with some of my products, but it is not required).

YOU send me an email with either a download link for the layouts or the layouts attached. Remember to add a text, your personal details and link for your website if you want that published with the layout.

This is what I will do:

I post your layout in the gallery along with any text and details you want.

I email you the download link for the freebie.

Easy, right?

And here is what you get for it:

I really hope you will do this for me, as giving away all this stuff and never see it being used is a little bit like giving away your children and never see them again… well, not quite, but you know what I mean. And as I am fast approaching the 10.000 downloads mark, I think it’s time to get something back ;o)

If this turns out to be a success, I will make new gallery freebies every month, so you can post new layouts and still get something in return.

Best regards,

Da Vinci Day 5

Friday is usually on of my favourite days of the week, but not this Friday…

Late yesterday night my laptop died. My faithful, loyal and trusted friend passed on to a place where there are no online connections, no ram and no graphic cards… But at least it must be a peaceful place, and my Dellie definitely deserves some peace and quiet after all the years of hard work and travelling. R.I.P. Dellie.

Luckily I have my good old stationary to work for me, so you don’t have to go without freebies.

Today is the final Da Vinci Day, and to end an otherwise good week, I hereby give you 3 Quick Pages Da Vinci Style.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

I am not sure exactly when I will be back with more goodies for you, as my paying job serves me with some very tight deadlines next week. But hang in there – I will be back as soon as possible!

Da Vinci Day 4

.
I Made It!

That Last Supper really gave me a hard time. The format is not quite suited for making square papers… But thanks to cheating, mingling and Photoshop I finally made it. Today’s 3 freebies make up a Last Supper Kit with an alpha, coloured papers matching the alpha and a Mini-Kit containing:

3 papers, jpg 12x12 300 ppi
1 paper – torn edge, png 12x12 200 ppi
1 paper – cardboard, png 12x12 200 ppi
4 tags, 1 with string
1 charm
1 label holder
1 Cut Out
2 screws for label holder
1 string for tags

I hope you can find good use for it. Especially you, Jody…

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

Although it would have been appropriate if The Last Supper had been the last day of my Da Vinci Tribute, I do believe I have a little something for tomorrow. See you then?

Da Vinci Day 3

I am confused… I mean really confused!

Today is April 21st, and spring arrived a couple of weeks ago, but when I look out my window IT SNOWS! Georg has gone into hibernation and I am just sitting here trying to decide what to wear when I go out in a short while. Well, at least it doesn’t stay on the ground. Our airport has just re-opened after the ash incidence so we don’t need another cause for grounding all flights.

Nevertheless, snow is not going to stop me posting, and you still need more Da Vinci freebies, right? So here is today’s catch. I did not have a lot of time yesterday to make you something, so you have to “settle for” some Nick-Nacks (otherwise known as elements) and a few Quote Arts (otherwise known as wordart). Hope you are not too disappointed.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

My plans for tomorrow have something to do with The Last Supper, but I’m still not quite sure what it will end up with. I feel an Alpha and some papers coming up, but who knows. Drop by and be surprised.

Da Vinci - Day 2

I have looked at my download stats and all the comments you leave for me (and thanks for that), and a pattern appears. Every time I have “aged papers” up for grabs the stats boom. So let’s ride the waves of success and make some more of those…

Today’s Paper Pack is made from Leonardo’s paintings and sketches and are all aged (well, of course they are aged, they are more than 500 years old!). I hope they too will be among “The Populars”.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

I am still not sure what will come tomorrow, but it will definitely be something Da Vinci :o)

And Jody, you can relax - I assure you that The Last Supper is on it’s way.

See you all again tomorrow?

By the way – I have expanded this blog with a Gallery where you can see some of my personal scrapbook pages. Please go to the top menu, and if you have the time for a comment, I would love to here what you think.

The Renaissance Man

Last week I had to prioritize, because two big events took place on the same day. Fun seeking little me chose to focus on Tivoli’s opening. But this week I will make up for ignoring the other. Thursday was the birthday of (in my opinion) one of the greatest men of all times:

This Renaissance Man – in every sense of the word – would have turned 558 this year, but didn’t make it past 67. However, in those 67 years he accomplished more than anyone could ever imagine, in more fields of work than any other. I don’t think he needs any further introduction, but if your knowledge about him is limited, you can check out this site.

Today an the rest of the week I will be posting material inspired by Da Vinci and made from his paintings, drawings and sketches. Today it’s an Alpha made from his famous drawing “The Vitruvian Man”. I must warn you though. As the label on the preview says, nude male genitals are visible on the drawing and therefore on some of the letters in the alpha. But since it is art, I took the chance and didn’t “cover it up”. Can you forgive me?

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

Please come back tomorrow for more Da Vinci.

Tivoli Day 4 - I totally forgot...

.. that I had made you a Bonus Paper Pack with 7 papers from the Old Tivoli. Here you are - click on preview to download.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

Now there is no more. Well, that is until I get to Tivoli and take more pictures...

Tivoli Day 4 - Last Day

We have reached the final day of our visit to The Tivoli Gardens, and today we are going to have FUN!

First I want to share something with you. Yesterday I received a mail from Miriam in San Diego. Miriam makes stats for a Yahoo group called Mary Engelbreit and Friends, and because I dedicated this Tivoli Theme to her, she made this beautiful picture with material by the American artist Mary Engelbreit. It actually gives you a very good idea of what Tivoli is like. Thank you so much, Miriam.

One of the more popular attractions in Tivoli is the Photo Fun Booth where you can stand behind painted Photostats with only you head visible and have you picture taken as a cowboy, a clown, a prisoner, etc. The most popular is the Bride and Groom. I have taken pictures of two of them and made them into miniature Photostats for you so you can put pictures of your friends and family’s heads into it.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

And if you want to pretend to take some of Tivoli’s fun rides, you can use these Quick Pages. Ride the Rollercoaster, the Ferris-Wheel or the Line 8 Trolley…

Finally, I have made some Tivoli QPs of a more frame-like type. Use them as they are or add your own decorations, if you like.

It has been a pleasure to introduce you all to Tivoli, and I hope you will one day come to Copenhagen to see it in person. If that’s not possible, I hope this weekend’s freebies have given you the feel of the place. And although it’s not like being there, I hope you will have lots of fun scrapping with the products.

See you again tomorrow for something completely different?

Please go to the next post for a Bonus Paper Pack.

Tivoli Day 3

It's Saturday, and that means weekend candy! And candy, ice cream and other goodies are also a big part of a visit in the Tivoli Gardens. That is why today's Aged Papers are all with yummy motifs. I hope you find the designs yummy too.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

But that is not all. Today you get the second Tivoli Alpha as well. On Thursday it was Columbine, so today of course it has to be Harlequin. Happy scrapping!

Tomorrow is the last Tivoli Day and I will focus on FUN. Come back and find out what that is all about.

P.S. - For those of you interested: Yesterday our Queen had a birthday fit for … well, a queen! Sunshine and blue sky, close to a hundred thousand people in the palace square and again later in Town Hall Square, coach ride through the city, reception lunch at the Town Hall and 265 of her family and closest friends for dinner at Fredensborg Castle. And we commoners could follow every step on TV.

Tivoli Gardens - Day 2

Isn’t it ironic?

Here I am making a Tivoli Theme and for the first time in thirty-something years I didn’t get to Tivoli on opening day…

Well, never mind. It’s actually not a great loss, as first day is a little bit like Black Friday – way too many people pushing and shoving to get around. I have all summer to get there, and as a Season Card holder I can get in free anytime I want.

When visiting Tivoli you should always bring your camera, but as mine is not a small pocket thing, I don’t bring it as often as I should. I have, however, managed to build up a nice bundle over time, and today I give you some of them as Photo Papers.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

Oh, by the way… Today is our Queen’s birthday. 70 years old, and still going very strong.

The entire country is celebrating, but as she lives here in Copenhagen, we get the “main attractions”. Gala shows, full dress dinners, all the “pump and circumstance” – it has been going on for days. And today she will come to the balcony at Amalienborg Castle at noon to be congratulated by her people. Unfortunately, a large part of her foreign guests did not make it to the celebrations because the air space over Denmark is closed at the moment due to a giant volcanic ash cloud from the erupting volcano in Iceland. Well, we will make sure she gets a good day after all.

Please come back tomorrow for more of those aged papers and the second alpha.

See you?

Tivoli Gardens

Today is a good day!

I am feeling so much better and there is no longer need for evidence of spring – it is definitely HERE!

Talking about evidence of spring’s arrival – an absolute certain sign is the opening of the Tivoli Gardens here in Copenhagen, and that is today.

The Tivoli Gardens is a famous “amusement park” from 1843 located right in the centre of Copenhagen, and popular among people of all ages. The children, small or big, goes to try the rides, eat ice cream and candy floss and get a balloon. The young people go to try the more dangerous rides, drink beer and listen to Friday Rock on The Lawn (which is actually not a lawn anymore but a big area with gravel). The adults go to eat open faced sandwiches (especially shrimp), maybe listen to classical music or just stroll around and enjoy the beautiful garden. And finally the little old ladies who come for coffee and cakes, or an ice cream on a bench overlooking the lake. Everybody enjoys a day in Tivoli. For some years now they have expanded their opening to include Halloween and Christmas. Christmas is about to become a favourite season for all the lights, the small shops with decorations, gifts and “æbleskiver” (apple dumplings) and glögg (mulled wine), not to mention Santa who is there all December.

But now it is the summer season and that is Tivoli’s Prime Time. To celebrate today’s opening I will be posting Tivoli Stuff all through the weekend. Papers, alphas and some other things will be yours for free, so please stop by everyday.

I would like to dedicate this Tivoli Theme to my new online friend Miriam in San Diego. Miriam, I hope you will one day come back to Copenhagen and let me take you to Tivoli for some open faced sandwiches…

Today I give you a big bunch of Aged Papers and the first of two Alphas. Hope you enjoy it all.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

A Little Bit Crocus

I had to change my plans for today’s freebie. I was hit hard by a computer virus. Not the one that destroyed all files on my computer (Thank God!), but the one that destroyed my body… The one you get from sitting too many hours in front of the computer and results in tense muscles, headache and dizziness. So I had to limit my computer time this weekend and therefore didn’t get to finish what I had planned for today. But you don’t have to leave empty handed.

Last week I passed one of our local churches and saw a lawn full of crocuses. Crocuses have been a sign of spring for me ever since I was a small child and my grandfather took me to The King’s Garden to look at them every year. So today I give you a few papers with crocuses and hope they can bring spring to you as well.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

I will take a few computer free days to recover but plan to be back on Thursday with something really good!

See you then?

Danish Art

Hello again!

Today I want to take you back in time.

It is a very special day here in Denmark. 70 years ago today Hitler’s German troops invaded our country and started a 5 years long occupation. I am happy to say that we regained our freedom, but such a day makes you think… I therefore want to take you back to a time long before World War II, a time where artists were ARTISTS and painted the world around them as beautiful. I am talking about the 1800’s, the Golden Age in Danish art.

I have taken 14 paintings by Danish artists and made them into papers for you, hoping they can spread some beauty in your scrapping-world.

A funny little detail: One of the paintings I’ve used, “Oesterbro by Christen Koepke”, was painted in 1836 and is actually showing the exact spot where I live today… It does, however, look a lot different.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

I’m taking the weekend off but will be back on Monday. Have a very nice weekend everyone.

By the way – if you are German, I just want to let you know that 70 years is a long time and there are no hard feelings…

More Colours

I think it helped. Today the sun is shining over Copenhagen and life is no longer so black and white. But just to be on the safe side I hereby bring you the papers to go with the alpha as promised yesterday. You get not one paper pack, not two, but 3 paper packs. One with flat colours, one aged/grunged and one slightly wrinkled. All have 12 colours matching yesterday’s alpha. Please notice that there is download links for all the papers in one (for those with plenty of band width) and separate for each of the three packs.

But that is not all…

Yesterday I went power shopping at Atomic Cupcake and got myself some new toys. They had to be tested of course, and that resulted in an extra bonus for you. A Surprise Bonus Pack with some ….. Well, if I told you it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it? Just take the chance and download it.

SORRY!
These freebies are no longer available.
Check my store - they might be there.

See you in a couple of days?
